Support systems are used to reduce damage in case of limb failure. They are an option when faced with a valued tree that has structural defects. There are two cabling systems types:
- Steel cables that last indefinitely, but prevent limbs from moving naturally
- Soft material, dynamic systems that allow for limited natural movement, but need to be replaced after approximately 10 years
Solid rod bracing can sometimes be an option in cases of truck splitting.
