Healthy trees are easy. Plant the right tree in the right place. Differing soil qualities are a big part of that equation. We take into consideration the surrounding soil qualities and health when evaluating your trees. Sometimes we can make recommendations to help improve the root system environment, the soil, that can make all the difference. This is generally more complicated than simply fertilizing your tree, although that can sometimes make a difference too.
Did you know that deciduous shade trees have root systems that extend two to three times the drip line of the tree and that most of the roots live in the top two feet of the soil? If grass is growing in that area the tree and grass roots compete for nutrients and water, and herbicides applied to lawns will negatively impact nearby trees. Ask us about your trees and their root systems. We love to talk dirt about your soil.
